Whatta writeup in Waste & Recycling News!

Posted by kathleen in why ecobly? Our Ears are Burning

Recyclers and manufacturers now know the ecobly story. Here are some fascinating excerpts:

"You won't find "Ecobly" in a dictionary but in a few mouse clicks you connect to a virtual site designed to be a national directory linking customers with green products such as toys, furniture and home decor made close to their homes."

"One of the reasons that having the Ecobly verification on a company's advertising is so important, it gives consumers another factor to think about when they are making a decision...They may be paying a little bit more for something but they know it's going right back into their own community. Third-party verification is very valuable when consumers are making their decision."

Thanks for the link, Wiser Jewelry!

Posted by kathleen in Our Ears are Burning

The great people at Wiser Jewelry, who make gorgeous jewelry from recycled gold and silver in Cashmere, Washington, put a link to ecobly.com on their website. I appreciate it! They are helping to let folks know about locally made, sustainable products.

It's not too late to buy your green Valentine gift from them (or, your Honey-I'm-Sorry-I-Didn't-Buy-You-A-Valentine's-Day-Gift gift!)

Can you put a link to ecobly.com on your site? Help spread the word that US manufacturing with a green sheen is easy to find at ecobly.

Ode magazine touts ecobly

Posted by kathleen in Our Ears are Burning

Great to see ecobly.com on Ode's Exchange page today! Ode is a print and online publication about positive news, about the people and ideas that are changing our world for the better. It's an inspirational magazine.

I hope Ode's readers search the ecobly database to find the great companies that are all making a difference in our communities by creating the greenest products you can find.

Ode says its aim is to bring a "new reality into view," and I believe that's what the ecobly inventors, crafters, entrepreneurs and manufacturers that make eco-friendly, local products all aim to do.

TerraCycle supports ecobly with free gifts for members

Posted by kathleen in why ecobly?

We are thrilled to have the support of TerraCycle, the world's premier "trash to treasure" company.  TerraCycle (Trenton, NJ) goes way beyond regular post-consumer recycling. Instead of the standard stuff (paper, glass, plastic), it seeks out ways to turn "unrecyclable" trash into great stuff. What can be made from a juice pouch? A granola bar wrapper? An old billboard?

This is the kind of crazy, out-of-the-box radical recycling that we need to reduce our Big Footprints in this country. TerraCycle exemplifies the ecobly values.

Which is why we are so excited that they are willing to help us as we launch. Each month, they will give 10 new ecobly members a cool pencil kit made out of recycled juice pouches. The boxes are part of their new line of products for OfficeMax, which also include 100 percent recycled plastic pens and pencils made from old newspapers and a computer bag made from used billboard vinyl. (**See below for Fine Print.)

Welcome to the ecobly marketplace!

Posted by kathleen in green gifts

Welcome to ecobly!
We are excited to launch the only directory dedicated to local green goods. We have scoured the country looking for people in shops small and large who are helping to make our land a little cleaner, and bring great products to you at the same time. The Green Gold Standard for shopping is to find products that are local and made from recycled or sustainable materials. You don't have to comb farmer's markets and craft fairs - we've done it for you! Search the directory to find how our producers are turning trash to treasure and making unique, practical and sometimes outrageous products.

The greenest holiday shopping

The perfect thing for your home, garden, office or holiday gift needs is right here! Start local - search for your zip code or state to see what companies are in your backyard making great stuff.
